I had originally planned on lighter, more spring-like meals for this week, but with all of the surprise snow we received, the only meals that sounded good were warm and hearty ones!

On the Brink...

There are those days when you just KNOW that you are on the edge of a huge change.  It comes in all forms:  A toddler who was given too much sugar by that well-meaning grandmother (and now you are dealing with the fall-out), A husband’s face when he walks through the door to find you’ve decided to tackle that home improvement project (with no forethought of finances or materials needed), the pit in your stomach when you’re turned around to face the mirror after foolishly telling your hairstylist, “Just do what you think looks best! I’m ready for change!”

You know the feeling.  Life is about to bypass your normal routine and go straight to a new alternate reality.

Mom-and-Me dates

If you have kids and you don't "Date" them yet, you need to.  It's a game-changer in parenting.  It is the one time every so often where you get a chance to focus 100% on just that kid and, in turn, help them experience your love and attention rather than just hear you say that all-too-common words, "I love you."

Balance

The older I get the more I learn that life is about balance.  Give a little, get a little.  It applies to everything.   My life is richer when I seek to perfect that balance in each aspect.

Item of the Week: Runkeeper App

Have you heard of Runkeeper?  I had. 

​Months, maybe years ago, but I never really gave it a second thought.  It was for the elite and the crazy runners.  People like my husband.  I thought I knew Runkeeper, and so I dismissed it.  But now I wish I wouldn't have.

Family Swimwear 2018

This has been the Winter that NEVER ENDS in Michigan.  Here we are in mid-April, and it's still snowing.  We have a Winter Weather Advisory and threats of an ice storm tonight.  

Lovely, juuuuuust lovely.

Someone recently compared this current change of seasons to an upset teenager who keeps going into her room and then coming out, wagging her finger, saying, "And another thing!...".   Sounds about right to me!

All of this snow is making me want to protest Winter.  And so, in an effort to make my stand, I have pulled out our family swimwear.

This was the week before Spring Break.  I  needed meals that felt like Spring was on it's way.   

And, let's be honest, I always go with the easiest options available.
